World We Imagine Post 3: Haven of Hope

 "Haven for Hope" is a non-profit organization with offices in Los Angeles, Miami, and Dallas, just a few of the cities where the critical issue of overcrowding in animal shelters is most prominent. These shelters, with limited space and resources, can only take on so many animals at a time. So when there is overcrowding, which in Los Angeles, Miami, and Dallas, there always is, it leads to the shelters having to resort to the euthanasia of innocent animals. Animals that have been at the shelter the longest will be first on the list for euthanasia in order to make room for new intakes. This is a tragic reality for over 920,000 cats and dogs each year in the U.S. alone, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Inspired by leaders in the animal-saving sphere like It’s Yogi House and many others that came before us, Haven of Hope’s mission is to save as many cats and dogs from euthanasia as possible so that these innocent creatures are given a second chance at a happy life. We rescue cats and dogs from shelters that are most vulnerable to euthanasia and bring them to one of our three locations, each spanning over 30,000 sqft. Each facility was built and designed to feel like a large home, not a prison cell for these animals while they wait to find their forever home. Each “Haven for Hope” location is filled with lots of love, toys, healthy treats, couches to lounge on, vetrinary care, activities, and fun. Our amazing staff and volunteers provide our animals with lots of love, cuddles, attention, and playtime, and our onsite emergency vet team ensures that all animals are being properly taken care of and are getting all of their medical needs met. We are thankful to have a large social media presence on Instagram and TikTok, where we promote each animal individually, showcasing their characteristics and behavior so that our cats and dogs get placed into the right home for them.

Our goal is to get more cats and dogs adopted as quickly as possible by the right people because the faster they get adopted, the more animals on the euthanasia list we can rescue. It is our ultimate goal to eventually have a “Haven of Hope” facility in a major city in each U.S. state so that we can reach as many animals as possible across the U.S.

I believe that animals are one of, if not the greatest aspect of life. They bring nothing but love, happiness, and companionship to our lives, and so many people often don’t treat them the way they deserve to be treated. I am a passionate advocate for ending euthanasia in shelters as I am fiercely protective of these innocent creatures. For as long as I can remember, I have always been this way towards the topic; however, it seems my strong yearning to help animals grows by the year as I get older. I ultimately founded “Haven for Hope” so that the organization could act as a voice for these helpless animals so that they can get a second chance at the happy life they deserve.
